Rick has been snowmobiling since the early 1970’s, starting out with a 247cc single cylinder Skidoo Olympic on the family farm near St. Brieux.
Rick has over 40 years of experience in Municipal Administration including serving the position of Administrator with the Rural Municipality of Hudson Bay #394 from 1979 to 1983. In November of 1983, he began as CAO for the Town of Hudson Bay, until his recent retirement April 1, 2019. In addition to completing the original Local Government Administration Program he has also graduated from the University of Regina’s Senior Local Government Administration Program and holds both an Urban Superior “ A “ and Rural “ A “ Certificate in Local Government Administration. Rick has also served as Executive Director of the Urban Municipal Administrators’ Association of Saskatchewan from 1990 to 2022.
Locally he has been involved heavily with the Hudson Bay Trail Riders since their meager beginnings in the fall of 1988 and he is currently a Director and Trail Committee Chair of the Hudson Bay Trail Riders Snowmobile Club. Over his years in Hudson Bay Rick has been involved with numerous other committees and Community organizations including groups like Economic Development and Tourism, Regional Park, Curling Club, Minor Ball, Minor Hockey, Search and Rescue and EMO.
Rick and his wife Karen have lived in Hudson Bay since 1979 and have three grown children – Ryan who is a Journeyman Iron Worker currently employed at the Department of National Defence Esquimalt Naval Base in Victoria BC., daughter Nicole Goldsworthy who is the Village Administrator in Bjorkdale, and youngest son Robyn who is currently employed at Weyerhaeuser’s Hudson Bay OSB operation and has also achieved certification as a Personal Trainer. Karen and Rick are also proud grandparents to Brynn, Sarah and Carter Goldsworthy, children of Nicole and Geoff Goldsworthy The entire family enjoys snowmobiling, motorcycles, ATVing, fishing, golfing, camping and all other outdoor pursuits. Over their time in Hudson Bay Rick and Karen have been involved many other community organizations as well including the Golf Club, Curling Club, Minor Sports, Regional Park and Tourism Committees just to name a few.
Rick would like to extend and share special recognition to his wife Karen who has been extremely supportive and understanding over the years although at times she has to remind him there are other joys in life aside from sledding and snow. Despite their years of volunteering and involvement both he and Karen continue to remain passionate about the sport and the local Trail Riders Club.
